GMFWashington has been blogging off-and-on for twenty-plus years. His original blog was called THE ANGRY PEN. I stumbled on this old post, which is fascinating, and which shows you how much (and how quickly) things can change. The thrust of the piece (thrust?) is that there wasn't enough space between the policy positions of the Democrats and Republicans in 2000 to fit a standard piece of 8 1/2 X 11 paper. I'm not sure things were better back then, but certainly our politics were not nearly as insanely partisan as they are now. And the narrow policy differences between the parties have since widened into a uncrossable gulf.
