One of my rules for life is that you should always endeavor to put yourself in a position to succeed.
In running for, and becoming President, Joe Biden did the opposite.
By embracing a relfexive Anti-Trumpiness he forced himself into a cul-de-sac where even objectively positive Trump policies must be jettisoned in favor of their polar opposites. This is causing him grief everywhere from the border to the Middle East.
But his biggest mistake may have been in letting himself get bullied by the Identity Police into picking Kamala Harris as his VP, becuase she has turned out to be every bit the lightweight many of us suspected she was.
And now the problem is that he can't trust the person who is supposed to be covering his flank. He is constantly vulnerable in ways that he can't predict and so he is going to be in defensive mode throughout whatever time he has left in his Presidency.
Say what you want about Elizabeth Warren, I certainly have, but she is a much more formidable politician than Harris and if Biden had done the smart thing and picked her as his VP, we might be in real trouble.
